CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting

I knew this blog was going to be a hard one for me to write but I had no idea it would take me this long to just finish and post it. I feel very vulnerable about sharing the pictures that are below. I started this blog to help inspire, teach, and show women what can happen when you have a little faith. To do that I need to show that I am relatable and that I am willing to put myself out there even if it is hard for me.

For as long as I can remember I have had an excessive amount of fat cells under my chin. I was told it was probably hereditary and a result of having a rounder face. It caused some serious insecurities for me growing up and even more as I got into my twenties. It especially became something I thought about often after a stranger pointed it out at the bar this past summer.

In Late August of 2019 Center for Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery made one of my dreams come to. They granted me with a complimentary CoolSculpting session to get rid of my genetic fat pad underneath my chin. CoolSculpting is a noninvasive, nonsurgical medical procedure that helps to remove extra fat cells beneath the skin. It freezes stubborn pockets of fat that are either genetic or difficult to loose despite diet and exercise. Your body will naturally eliminate dead(frozen) cells in one to three months resulting in 20%-25% reduction of fat in the treated area.

Before each session they take before pictures of the targeted area, above are my before pictures we took. I was lucky enough to have my amazing friend and esthetician Heather perform the procedure on me. After the photos she started to set up and talked me through what they were going to do and what the process was going to entail.

I was extremely nervous about getting this done but Heather and the rest of the staff at CPRS were nothing short of amazing and kept me very comfortable the entire time. When they attach the machine the worst part is the first minute but it is not nearly as painful as I read it would be in other blogs. After that it just got numb and I did not feel a thing other than a little pressure and coolness on the back of my neck. It helped to stay busy on my phone and watch the movie they had set up for me on an ipad. After the machine shut off and time was up, they came in to take it off and switch it to the other side. Once they release the suction they have to massage the skin for 3 minutes. Now if I am just being honest with you this part was not enjoyable by any means but it was the only time I ever felt any pain. After the massage was complete on that side Heather attached the machine to the other side and reset the timer.

Once the procedure was over I was numb for quite a few hours. Waking up the next day post procedure it was extremely sore to the touch and a little swollen. No pain going throughout the day though, I was able to go about normal activities. Day two I woke up still sore and swollen but with broken blood vessels and a bruise as well. After that the swelling started to go down everyday, about after a week it was completely back to normal and pain free. Three weeks later I started to really feel a difference in my skin even though I could not see one. I finally started to see a real result about 10 weeks after and couldn’t be happier with only one treatment. After photos are the last step and mine are below.

To sum everything up, my overall experience was great, Heather and the staff at CPRS did everything and more to make sure I was comfortable the entire time. I am super happy with my results and I honestly forgot how great they were until I looked at the photos again, so make sure you take before and afters. As for cost I know this procedure can be a bit pricey but there are many different options depending on where you get it done. The best way to get answers on any of your questions is to set up a consultation.

  1. Wow, not bad when you see the results actually, I have been hearing about the use of this technology by many places in our country as well, but never had the courage to try it. Also at least in India, they are quite expensive also.

  6. Wow! The results are amazing! I just did chin exercises for 10 months to lose my double-chin before. Of course it came with lots of exercise and long-term clean eating.
